Whilst we aren’t looking forward to colder days and darker nights, we can’t help but feel a little bit excited about the beginning of autumn. There’s something about a faux fur scarf and an amazing coat that makes us feel fab! Fortunately, October is jam packed with shopping opportunities, thanks to an array of vintage fairs and events taking place around the country. Here is our pick of Britain’s best vintage fairs this October.

Pillbox Vintage Fair

3 October – The Shipping Forecast Alehouse and Eatery (Liverpool)

The organisers behind the Pillbox Vintage Fair are famed for their ability to scope out an amazing venue and the latest on the list is the achingly hip Shipping Forecast Alehouse and Eatery in Liverpool. With a combination of amazing food, real ales and great vintage fashion and homeware, you can eat, drink, shop and be merry in some amazing industrial surroundings.

Pop-Up Vintage Fair

4 October – St Stephen’s Church (Hampstead)

We featured the Pop-Up Vintage Fair last amongst our favourite vintage fairs for September, but we couldn’t overlook an October fair in such an impressive venue. The 19th century French Gothic church of St Stephen’s is the perfect home for a vintage fair that has scooped numerous awards in recent years, including the ‘Best Vintage Fair’ award in The Vintage Guide to London for the last three years.

The Vintage Suitcase Buxton Vintage Fair

4 October – Devonshire Dome (Buxton, Derbyshire)

The venue alone should be enough to lure you to The Vintage Suitcase’s Buxton Vintage Fair. Built in 1779, the grade II listed building is absolutely spectacular and unsurprisingly one of the region’s most popular wedding venues.

As winners of awards including the ‘Breakthrough Business’ award at the 2014 National Vintage Awards and ‘Vintage Personality of the Year’ at the 2015 National Vintage Awards, it is little surprise that The Vintage Suitcase know how to give good vintage. All traders are handpicked to guarantee incredible quality and you’ll find plenty aside from the 60 + stalls expected at the event, including a pop-up beauty parlour, acres of bunting, vintage music and tea and cake served on vintage crockery.

The October Seaside Vintage Fair

Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October – Exhibition Hall (Whitby)

Vintage shopping with a seaside view sounds like our idea of heaven and beach fronts don’t come much quainter than the gorgeous Whitby. The seaside town’s Exhibition Hall hosts The October Seaside Vintage Fair from renowned vintage experts Rose and Brown, with 30 stalls lined with treasures from the 20’s through to the 80’s.

The Nostalgic Wedding Fair

25 October – Guildhall Winchester

This unique wedding fair, organised by The Vintage Parade and with exhibitors from across the south of England, sounds right up our street! An absolute must-visit for anybody who is in the process of planning a vintage or boho style wedding, the event offers an expertly curated selection of stalls, from sepia-toned photographers, crafters of alternative wedding cakes, vintage bridal dresses, retro accessories, rustic bouquets and much more.

We’ve got The Nostalgic Wedding Fair in our diary – have you?

Britain Does Vintage

Various dates throughout October

Though it has only been a couple of years since two vintage-obsessed friends set up shop in York with Britain Does Vintage, the recognition the events have received has been enormous. You’ll find events around the UK throughout October, including Huddersfield Does Vintage and Durham Does Vintage on 3rd October and Kelham Hall’s Big Vintage Festival on 17th October, but it is York Does Vintage that is closest to the creator’s hearts.

As the home town of the passionate gals behind Britain Does Vintage, York always offers a warm welcome whenever the event is back in town. Vintage wares fill the Merchant Adventurers Hall, enhanced even further by live vintage-style music, dancing and Ask The Experts sessions offering advice on everything from the perfect victory roll to the best way to store your favourite frock.

Wondering just how good a vintage fair can possibly be? The York Tourism Awards nominated Britain Does Vintage for ‘Shopping Experience of the Year’ in 2012, 2013 AND 2014!

Which of the UK’s vintage fairs will you be scouring the rails of come October? The chances are we will see you there!
