Autumnal Makeup Looks We Can’t Get Enough Of

Girls, unearth your woollens from the loft and hotfoot it to the nearest Starbucks for your first Pumpkin Spiced Latte of the season, because autumn is officially here. For the next few months, when we’re not beautifying brides and hosting amazing vintage hen parties, you’ll mostly find us cosied up in front of the fire with a mug of tea as big as our head. When the brushes come out and the lippy goes on however, these are the looks inspiring us this autumn.

Ruby red lips

We’re in a long-term relationship with red lipstick and it’s a habit we aren’t willing to even attempt to break anytime soon. We’re taking our beloved red lippy into winter by dialling it up a shade or two, taking our reds slightly deeper and darker. Dark red lips are a classic and with 20s, 30s or 40s inspired satin gowns, slightly vampy lips and barely-there eyes is a look to die for.

Flushed cheeks

One plus side to the early winter wind on your face is feeling that flush across your cheeks in a shade better than any blusher could ever dream of achieving. We’re looking forward to replicating that rosy flush with an extra sweep of blush in a shade the says ‘wow, it’s cold outside!’

Heavy metal eyes

Soft smokes are a wedding favourite whatever the time of year but autumn calls for subtle copper shimmers to make your eyes pop. A softly smudged liner close to the lashes will set things off a treat. When it comes to colours for autumn wedding eyes, think of the shades you’d associate with that gorgeous golden fall foliage and you’re on the right lines.

Marvellous mauve

It doesn’t just rhyme, mauve really is marvellous. It suits every skin tone and it bridges the gap between romantic summer looks and more dramatic winter tones perfectly. Mauve eyes with a soft berry lip is a flirty failsafe.

Porcelain skin

Summer’s golden glow makes way for a more ethereal autumn look and pale has never been prettier. Skin with a soft sheen looks fresh, especially when worn with boho braids and berry scattered floral hair accessories on the big day.

Lips and lids

The golden rule of makeup, bridal or otherwise, is touted as lips or lids but never both. When it comes to autumn’s wedding makeup looks, lips AND lids look fresher than ever together. Who says a bride can’t rock a bright lid and a pink lip? Or a bitten plum lip stain with a subtle smoky eye? We’re all for alternative bridal makeup looks this autumn.

Barefaced beauty

Ladies, we all know how much work and product really goes into achieving that no make-up look. Barefaced and beautiful is big news for autumn but it’s a look that’s harder to achieve than simply shunning the products and going au natural. Perfectly prepped skin with a little illumination, groomed brows and a touch of something nude on the lips is a great place to start.
